Synchronisation
AS A REGIONAL INNOVATION OPPORTUNITY
31st October
1.00 -5.00 PM (EET)
Online & in-person in Riga at Minox Event Space
Power grids are crucial in ensuring energy security and resilience in our modern society. They form the backbone of the energy infrastructure, responsible for transmitting and distributing electricity. This reliability is instrumental for maintaining energy security, as disruptions can have far-reaching economic and societal consequences. The planned synchronisation of the Baltics with the European grid in 2025 will mark a new era and is crucial for ensuring the energy independence of the Baltic states, as well as opening new balancing and ancillary services markets, increasing opportunities for innovation, new services and technologies.
On 31st October at 1PM (EEST) in Riga forum “Synchronisation as a regional innovation opportunity” will bring together stakeholders from the Baltic states and the UK to share insights on the opportunities emerging by the synchronisation and how to fully take advantage of them. The number of seats is limited and we require your confirmation of participation. The participation is free of charge.

The forthcoming synchronisation of the Baltic States with the European energy grid is an important moment for the resilience and connectedness of the region. It is interlinked with the region’s NetZero goals, including around the shift from fossil fuels to renewables. The United Kingdom is delighted to support this conference dedicated to exploring the opportunities for regional innovation the synchronisation will generate, including to share our own perspectives and experience.
Paul Brummell
His Excellency the British Ambassador to Latvia
The power grid needs innovation, as the energy sector is rapidly transforming globally, moving from fossil energy sources such as oil, natural gas and coal to renewable energy sources, including wind and solar energy, as well as various energy storage technologies. In the Baltic States, this transition is accompanied by significant changes in the management and planning processes of the power grid, both in relation to synchronisation and the development of ancillary services markets, and the development of digital technologies to support these processes.
Arnis Daugulis
Member of the board of the Latvian transmission system operator JSC “Augstsprieguma tīkls”
The synchronisation with the European power grid will improve energy security, enhance market competition, strengthen grid stability, but foremost bring opportunities for service providers and innovators. Cleantech for Baltics is excited to participate and discuss innovation in the Baltic region and how regional collaboration can speed-up uptake of cleantech solutions and accelerate funding.
