Project

Greening Economy Network for Enhancing Sustainable Industrial Systems (GENESIS)

Project goal

The GENESIS project, “Greening Economy Network for Enhancing Sustainable Industrial Systems,” aims to bridge the innovation divide across European regions by strengthening green manufacturing, circular economy practices, and digital transformation. The project focuses on enhancing regional innovation ecosystems, particularly in less developed areas, to support sustainable manufacturing transitions and foster cross-regional collaboration.

Key Activities:

  • Mapping and Benchmarking: Analyze regional innovation ecosystems to identify gaps and opportunities in green manufacturing.
  • Capacity Building: Deliver masterclasses and showcases to equip companies with skills in green and digital technologies.
  • Interregional Collaboration: Facilitate matchmaking events and develop partnerships to create viable business cases.
  • Policy Alignment: Provide roadmaps to align regional Smart Specialization Strategies (S3) with EU sustainability goals.

Key objectives:

  • Strengthen innovation capacity in less developed regions to support green manufacturing.
  • Enhance interregional cooperation and knowledge-sharing, supported by S3-based roadmaps.
  • Integrate regional ecosystems into European networks, fostering SME involvement.
  • Support cross-regional business case development and the scaling of green solutions.

The GENESIS consortium brings together 11 partners across 9 countries, representing a broad range of expertise in clusters, technology parks, universities, and EDIHs. This consortium structure leverages the strengths of diverse regions and provides essential connection to European networks representing over 2,360 organizations.

Target Sectors:

  • Automotive
  • Space and Defense
  • Transport
  • Energy-Intensive Industries
  • General Manufacturing
