A powerful start in Vaasa! The JEWEL Eurocluster project is officially underway, uniting European partners to forge a net-zero future for manufacturing.
The JEWEL project (Joint nEtWork for European net-zero manufacturing Leadership) has officially begun! We just concluded a highly productive two-day kick-off meeting in Vaasa, Finland, marking the start of our journey to accelerate the deployment of Net Zero Technologies across European industry.
Funded by the EU’s Single Market Programme, this Eurocluster initiative is more than just a meeting – it’s a launchpad for action. Our packed agenda in Vaasa proves it:
Day 1 was all about strategy & collaboration:
- Project Vision: Aligning on our core mission to help manufacturers transition to a climate-neutral economy.
- Deep Dives: Intensive workshops on our key work packages: building a Net-Zero Knowledge Hub (WP2), advancing Net-Zero and Circular Economy methods (WP3), and setting up our “Project Factory” to support SMEs (WP4).
- Funding Focus: A dedicated workshop on our nearly €2 million in direct funding for SMEs, preparing for the upcoming open calls.
- Team Building: Wrapping up the day with a traditional Finnish food experience, fostering the strong partnerships this project is built on.
Day 2 focused on execution & inspiration:
- Communication Strategy: Planning how to share our journey and results with the world (WP6).
- EU Alignment: A productive online session with our EU Project Officer from European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA).
- Industry Insights: Fantastic business visits to Danfoss and SOP-Metal in Runsor, seeing cutting-edge manufacturing and sustainability in practice.
A huge thank you to all our consortium partners, coordinated by Pôle MecaTech Cluster, for the incredible energy and commitment and Technology Centre Merinova Oy for wonderfull hosting in Vassa. The foundation for a successful project has been laid.
