On December 3–4, the BalticSeaH2 consortium held its annual all consortia project meeting and General Assembly in an online format. The meeting marked an important milestone as the project approaches its mid-term phase.

During the sessions, consortium members presented completed project tasks and deliverables, as well as reviewed progress on ongoing activities. One of the key takeaways was that the implementation of the BalticSeaH2 project is progressing as planned, with approximately one-third of all deliverables already completed – 41 out of a total of 123.

Significant progress has also been achieved in hydrogen production infrastructure. Finland’s first hydrogen production plant in Harjavalta, with a capacity of 20 MW, has been successfully implemented and has been operational since the first half of the year. The facility, developed and operated by P2X Solutions, produces green hydrogen and renewable (synthetic) natural gas. In addition, the 3 MW electrolysis project in Helsinki, implemented by the municipal energy utility company Helen, is advancing successfully.

At the European level, the BalticSeaH2 valley project has received major recognition by winning the Hydrogen Valley of the Year award from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, acknowledging it as the best hydrogen valley initiative in Europe.

As the project continues its intensive implementation phase, consortium members will next meet in person in Poland at the end of March 2026.
